About
Discover the experience
The story begins in Luxor, where the temples of Karnak and Luxor tell of gods and royal ceremonies, while the tombs of the West Bank speak of the hope for life beyond death. From there we travel north to two very different sanctuaries. At Dendera, the face of Hathor crowns the columns beneath a ceiling filled with images of the heavens. At Abydos, the finely carved reliefs of Seti I’s temple lead us towards the world of Osiris and the ancient belief in renewal.
At Dendera, Hathor was associated with music, joy and motherhood. Abydos was a centre of devotion to Osiris, whose story of death and restoration gave the place profound meaning for generations of Egyptians. Together, the two temples reveal different ways in which the divine was imagined in stone.
