About

Discover the experience

At Luxor, the Nile separates the temples of the living city from the royal burial grounds on the western bank. From there we sail south, watching fields and villages pass between the ancient sites. Edfu and Kom Ombo reveal how temple traditions continued long after the great pharaohs of Thebes. At Aswan, a granite quarry, a dam and the rescued island sanctuary of Philae bring ancient skill and modern choices into the same conversation.

As the landscape passes, it is worth remembering that temples were built for ritual and movement, not only for their lasting beauty. Boats once carried stone for building and sacred images for processions along this same river.

Day by day

Your Itinerary

Begin with the two banks of Thebes, then travel south through Edfu and Kom Ombo to Aswan.

Start among the columns of Karnak and Luxor Temple, two sanctuaries once linked by great processions, before settling into your cabin. Karnak grew over centuries as generations of pharaohs added to the sanctuary of Amun. During the Opet festival, sacred images travelled from there to Luxor Temple, joining the two places in a story of gods and kings.

Boarding the ship

Board the cruise ship, check into your cabin and settle in before the river journey.

Explore the royal landscape west of the Nile: tomb paintings, Hatshepsut’s terraces and Memnon’s colossi, followed by time sailing south. In the Valley of the Kings, images and texts accompanied the deceased ruler on an imagined journey through the night. Hatshepsut’s temple offers another vision of royal memory, its terraces rising against the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari.
